Using various drum, bassline and atmospheric pad samples, this patch creates different Drum and Bass melodies by randomly combining the samples.
During the process of choosing the samples, my perspective on music changed, since I learned to see it as a combination of rhythm and sounds intentionally put together to create an effect on the listener, rather than just one united melody. It became a system with parts, instead of a whole.
Making this project has also given me a deeper appreciation and understanding of music, as it pulled me closer to the role of an active creator, rather than a passive consumer. I look forward to exploring that role in future projects by making music and creating my own sounds for my other projects.
The samples used were found online and made by various people. However, I mistakenly didn’t keep my sources.
